The 4th of July, our nation's Independence Day, is a really special day in The US. Barbecues, family outings, and tons of fun are always on the agenda! This was our first 4th of July in Nevada, and we decided to try out a few of the local hot spots for some patriotic fun! Our first stop was the Nevada Railway Museum. The kids LOVE it at the museum and today was extra special because some of their more impressive trains were running. We rode in one of the passenger coaches, and the kids worked a handcart and managed to blow a whistle or two- it was a great time! After the museum we headed to Sparks. We had dinner at the Nugget casino and walked around the local festival. We took our seats and watched Reno's biggest fireworks show- it was so beautiful! They were some of the biggest fireworks I have ever seen, and the kids loved it! We got home really late, but took the time to do some "poppers" before saying prayers and crawling into bed. It was a great day, and I am so proud to be an American =)

Harrison is adorable!
Carter loves to see the tracks!

Harrison and Carter look out the window during their afternoon train ride! Carter was impressed by the cannon display, which lead to a discussion about cannons, cannonballs, and the 4th of July!
